Featured green roof: Roppongi Hills - Tokyo, Japan

Intensive rooftop garden at Roppongi Hills. In 2001 the Tokyo Metropolitan Government amended its nature conservation ordinances making it mandatory for newly-constructed buildings with plots of 1,000 square meters to have at least 20% of the rooftop planted with vegetation. Today, about 40 hectares of rooftops are covered with plants.
