Turnkey Construction Service
This urban infill project on a narrow site in downtown Asheville required thoughtful planning, careful coordination, and sequencing with the construction team and client. From traffic safety to crane picks, base component installation, irrigation, and planting, the Living Roofs construction crew kept things calm and collected, so the only thing left to worry about was when the plants would bloom.

Designed for People and Pollinators
This custom green roof system was designed to support native plants important to pollinators, reduce heat island effect, lower cooling costs, and reduce stormwater runoff. A meadow planting approach was used with large drifts of species to indicate intentionality and contrast with the wild and loose groundcover layer. Medium-tall plants were incorporated for texture and to be visible from the ground.

Peace of Mind
The Living Roofs team has tended this roof from the plant establishment period through its thriving as a high-performance stormwater management system and diverse plant community. Maintaining the plants may be the fun part, while less-visible tasks like managing and winterizing the irrigation system and inspecting drains are also part of our routine.
This roof is adjacent to a hotel pool deck and has become an incidental amenity for guests, and we are proud to keep things looking and working perfectly.
