The new patient tower includes green roof amenity space for patients and staff.
The third-floor terrace of Mission Hospital’s North Tower provides outdoor seating and respite for patients and staff.
Overview
The sun-dappled garden is also a place to savor westward views of Mt. Pisgah and the Blue Ridge Mountains and an opportunity to connect with nature in an otherwise clinical setting. Studies show that small nature interactions accelerate healing and promote overall wellbeing.

Simplifying the complexities of landscape on structure
The third-floor roof terrace is a quiet respite for hospital staff and patients, complete with planted areas, site furnishings, hardscape, and custom dogwood flower edging to contain contrasting decorative stone. The construction was less quiet but completely seamless, with the Living Roofs team coordinating and constructing the many components for a flawless result.

Starting off right
Our Care & Maintenance team managed the irrigation and plant maintenance for the first two years to ensure the plants were established and the system was poised for success. The roof is a heavily used space, and starting things off on the right foot helps keep things looking and working well into the future.
