Something Old, Something New - Innovative build captures a stunning bend in the French Broad River

The home is perched up high to take in dramatic and stunning views of the French Broad River. We were fortunate to work alongside the client and the talented team at PLATT early in the process to design a system that achieved the project goals, supported the desired plants and “look” of the roof, and ensure the construction was a breeze on this challenging site.

CODE project featured in Green Building & Design (gb&d)

The CODE (Center of Developing Entrepreneurs) building is on this month’s Green Building and Design (gb&d) cover, and the “cascade of occupiable terraces and green roofs” takes center stage as an amenity for tenants and pollinators. Working with the amazing team at Hourigan made this uniquely challenging construction project a success and an example of the unending opportunities and benefits of incorporating landscape on structure into urban projects.

Designing for entrepreneurs

Living Roofs Inc. sourced, custom grew, delivered, hoisted, and planted the roofs and carefully supported the establishment of over 7,000 perennials and grasses, 100 shrubs, and 75 trees across the eight roof terraces as well as installed the irrigation and optimized the performance of the building’s complex recycled water irrigation system.
