A home tucked into the edges of the marsh.
The guest house and main house support living roofs that cool the buildings, support habitat, and increase biodiversity as well as significantly reduce storm water runoff and protect the vital buffer zone just feet away.
Overview
The design minimizes the delineation between the roof structure and the surrounding environment, creating a harmonized and uninterrupted view of the marshland.

Careful Construction in a Sensitive Environment
Translating a beautiful and exacting design into reality requires careful planning, patience, on-the-spot problem-solving, and collaboration between trades. The Living Roofs construction crew delivered an inspired and harmonized project and a smooth process. There was no room for error or place to hide mistakes on this rooftop garden, and thank goodness, because nothing should interrupt that view.

The First Year is Critical
Paper plans sometimes need to adjust to plant habits and preferences. The establishment period is an important time for plant health and a time to adjust species and locations if necessary. The Living Roofs team hung around until the plants established themselves and grew into the project vision before handing things off to the owner for future care.
